Monarch of the Wetlands

I have been working on creating a more expressive and contemporary style to portray my love of animals and people.  This is the first in this new endeavor.  This was painted for the Sand Hill Crane Festival here in Lodi, CA.  I wanted to play with geometric shapes and patterns to create an interesting and contemporary background.  I used complements to show case the Crane.  This painting is for sale on my daily paint works gallery to buy click here

Kids at Heart

Today I need a break from the draft horse series I have been working one so I pulled out a picture of some baby goats.  I wanted to capture their playful but loving personalities.  I decided to add a weathered wood background as that would contrast nicely with the neutral pallet of the goats.  I decided to add the rocks and position them attempting to stand on top of the rocks.  I felt that the rocks gave interesting shapes to break up the strong vertical lines of the weathered wood.  This painting is 11 x 14 acrylic on canvas.
